Esc

The window has three columns and a status bar: the Projects sidebar on the left, tabs and panes in the center, and the right dock on the right. Everything opens as a center tab: files, diffs, pull requests, transcripts, browsers and settings.

    Projects sidebar

⌘ B shows or hides the sidebar; ⌘ ⇧ B moves the keyboard into it.

    • Title strip: the Rexa version, the update badge, and a collapse button.
    • Projects header: New worktree (⌘ ⇧ N) and Open project (⌘ O).
    • Tree: project → worktree → agent cards. See Projects and worktrees and Sessions.
    • Bottom: Keymap, Extensions and Settings buttons.

Drag the sidebar’s edge to resize it.

    Tabs and panes

Each worktree has its own tabs. A tab holds a console, an editor, a preview, a diff, a browser or a page such as Settings.

    • Temporary tabs: a single click on a file opens it in an italic tab that the next click replaces. Double-click, edit, or Keep Open to keep it.
    • Pin a tab from its right-click menu. Pinned tabs show a pin.
    • Panes: ⌘ \ adds a column. Drag the divider to resize.
    • Middle-click closes a tab. ⌘ ⇧ T reopens the last closed tab.

    Move tab right / left ⌘ ⌥ ⇧ → / ←
Close tab or split ⌘ W

⌘ T opens a console unless Settings → Launch new tab names something else. Consoles split further inside a tab; see Terminal.

    Right dock

⌘ R shows or hides the right dock; ⌘ ⇧ R moves the keyboard into it. It shows one panel at a time, and each worktree remembers its panel and width.

    Panel Shortcut Shows
Agents ⌘ ⇧ A Installed agents and sessions. Sessions
Files ⌘ ⇧ E The file tree. Files and search
    Search ⌘ ⇧ F Project-wide search and replace.
Git ⌘ ⇧ G Changes, compare and history. Git
Forge ⌘ ⇧ U Pull requests, issues and CI runs. Pull requests

A panel shortcut pressed while you are already in that panel returns the keyboard to the center. Right-click the dock’s icon strip to reorder or pin panels; Search is unpinned by default, so its icon appears only while it is open.

    Floating terminal

⌘ J shows a terminal panel over any view. See Terminal.

    Palettes

Project and branch The active worktree, its branch and changed-file count.

Language servers One item per running server. Click for controls.
Editor mode The Vim mode, when Vim is on.

Right-click the bar to hide items. rexa: toggle status bar hides the whole bar.

    Zen mode

rexa: toggle zen mode closes both docks and hides the status bar. Run it again to restore what was showing.

    Text size

    ⌘ = and ⌘ - change the text size everywhere in half-point steps; ⌘ 0 resets it to 13.5.

    Focus marker

A small triangle in the top-right corner marks the region that has the keyboard. Turn it off with focus_marker in Settings.

    What a relaunch restores

Rexa saves its layout as you work and restores it on the next launch:

    • The window, projects, their order, names and folding, and hidden worktrees.
    • Per worktree: panes, tabs and pinned tabs, console splits, the right dock panel, the floating terminal, unsaved editor changes and unsent comments.
    • Agent cards and their order.

Terminals keep running in the background while Rexa is closed and reattach on launch. Zen mode is not restored.
